Help on: saves
'Saves' are die rolls to determine if a particular physical attribute combines with a lucky die roll to mitigate the effect of something nasty that is about to happen to you. There are five different types of saves and each one is impacted by a different character statistic.
Save against SPELL: modified by FOCUS Save against BREATH: modified by AGILITY Save against POISON: modified by ENDURANCE Save against PARALYZATION: modified by STRENGTH Save against DISBELIEF: modified by PERCEPTION
For instance, suppose you are fighting a dragon and it decides to fill the room with fiery breath. This calls for a save against breath attacks and if you make your save, you take half damage.
Maybe you are really hungry and decide to eat a tasty-looking bit of food that you found. If it is poisoned, you have to make a save against poison, and if your endurance is good and you are lucky, you do not become poisoned.
